idea-9164 (I meant 9684): Sudden debugger performance problem.

Although given I do not know what caused this this is only to see if anyone else has had this problem.

Suddenly today, my IDEA debugger started taking an inordinate ammount of CPU time. I opened "Run" and checked to make sure I had no method or exception breakpoints and according to the GUI I did not. So I removed the only breakpoint I had set and tried again.

It still happened. After a bit, out of total fustration I removed the project and rebuilt it from scratch. That did indeed work. Yes I'm now kicking myself for not saving a copy of the broken project, but I really didn't think that would work . Just a shot in the dark has anyone had this happen to them?

Next time (if there is a next time of course) I'll be sure to save the old project files before performing the work around.

Any chance you have "show method return values" enabled?

"show method return values"? Where is that set? I can't seem to find anything like it in settings. If I did then it was not set intentionally.
