CVS via SSH with PPK problem not fixed in 5201 :-(

I tried the new build 5201 and set up my CVS parameters using internal ssh implementation and a private key file. When I click Test Connection, I still get the "Value must not be null" message. I only tried under OS-X 10.4.5 but I am afraid it does not work under Windows as in the last version. I cannot test Demetra without this being fixed.
Thanks,
Peter

Hello Peter,

Doesn't it reports unhandled exception for this? Or may be there's something
suspicous in the logs?

Maxim,

this is from the idea.log when I hit the "Test Connection" button:

2006-03-24 22:05:19,498 INFO - pplication.impl.LaterInvocator - enterModal:com.intellij.openapi.ui.impl.DialogWrapperPeerImpl$MyDialog[dialog10,0,22,0x0,invalid,hidden,layout=java.awt.BorderLayout,modal,title=Test Connection,defaultCloseOperation=DO_NOTHING_ON_CLOSE,rootPane=javax.swing.JRootPane[,0,0,0x0,invalid,layout=javax.swing.JRootPane$RootLayout,alignmentX=0.0,alignmentY=0.0,border=,flags=449,maximumSize=,minimumSize=,preferredSize=],rootPaneCheckingEnabled=true]
2006-03-24 22:05:21,691 INFO - pplication.impl.LaterInvocator - leaveModal:com.intellij.openapi.ui.impl.DialogWrapperPeerImpl$MyDialog[dialog10,497,368,241x139,invalid,hidden,layout=java.awt.BorderLayout,modal,title=Test Connection,defaultCloseOperation=DO_NOTHING_ON_CLOSE,rootPane=javax.swing.JRootPane[,0,22,241x117,layout=javax.swing.JRootPane$RootLayout,alignmentX=0.0,alignmentY=0.0,border=,flags=449,maximumSize=,minimumSize=,preferredSize=],rootPaneCheckingEnabled=true]

There is no exception - just the "Value must not be null!" modal dialog message box. The problem is static, it appears on all machines I installed Demetra to. This time I did not import my settings from Irida, I also cleared Caches, Application Support and Preferences. The same parameters do work in Irida. What else can I test?

Thanks,
Peter

Hello Peter,

The best thing I can do is inserting some debug logging into next EAP so
we can track it down.
So it would be great if you download next EAP and send me an exception stacktrace
that WILL this time be in log.

Maxim,
I just downloaded build 5201 for Windows now and installed it (without importing my Irida settings) - the problem is exacly the same. You can reproduce it very easily:

File->Check out from Version Control->CVS
Click Configure...
Populate Cvs root (using protocol :ext:), parameters do not matter
Check "Use internal ssh implementation"
Check "Use private key file", navigate to key file
Click "Test Connection"
Now the error message "Value must not be null" is displayed.

Please let me know if you cannot reproduce it.
Thanks,
Peter

Hello Maxim,

thanks for fixing it so quickly - can't wait for the next build...

BTW, Irida build 5171 also has a weird problem in that area, too. I had been using CVS with SSH (worked fine) and switched to PPK recently. When I clicked "Test Connection" I was prompted for a password (passphrase in this case) but IDEA failed on authentication. I tried again and again but I counld not get it to work. I disabled "using internal SSH", tried once (got an error message) and switched back to "internal SSH". Now it works, but I do not exactly if that did the trick. I had the same problem on OS-X 10.4.5, Windows XP and Linux. I think this is worth fixing for 5.1.1.

Thanks,
Peter

Hello Peter,

5171 is also Demetra build and I think 5.1.1 (they have 4xxx in build number)
should be clear of this bug.

I think it's build 4171 of Irida. There is no build 5171 of Demetra.

Maxim,

sorry for the confusion - t800t0 is right, I was talking about 4171 (Irida EAP).

Thanks,
Peter
