IntelliJ 8.0 de-indexing slowness
All,
I just installed version 8 today. I had to Force Quit (on OS X) it twice. What seems to be happening is that if by any chance, you remove a directory (e.g. from the Finder) containing a lot of data indexed by IntelliJ, de-indexing them takes forever (it seems to take seconds for each file). This also happens in the foreground, so effectively you are stuck and can't continue working.
Is this a known issue? Is there a way around it?
Thanks,
-Erik

Hello Erik,
Yes, this is supposed to happen in the foreground, but no, it's not supposed
to take seconds for each file. If you could capture a CPU snapshot of the
process as described in http://support.jetbrains.com/kb/entry.jspa?externalID=192&categoryID=5
and file a JIRA issue with the snapshot attached, this will be a big help
in investigating the problem.

Thanks. Sorry it doesn't seem like I will have the time to get that CPU dump just right now, but I opened an issue ( http://www.jetbrains.net/jira/browse/IDEA-20804 ) anyway as the problem is easy to reproduce.

"De-indexing" speed has been improved in version 8.1. Please check the EAP build published today.

Eugene,
I can't seem to find this build. It's not under http://www.jetbrains.net/confluence/display/IDEADEV/Diana+EAP, right?
-Erik
Hello Erik,
We'll actually release a EAP build tomorrow - we've found some critical problems
with today's build.
