Cut file can not be pasted?

The screenshot shows the file "paf-rules.testing.properties" is grayed out - since I have performed  Right Click | Cut  on it.   But I am unable to "paste" it into any other folder - even though Right Click | Paste is enabled when I click on another folder.  What is going on ?

At the moment I just can say that can't reproduce the problem and may ask some typical questions.

1. Does Paste work for another kind of objects, e.g. for a text in the Editor?
2. If so, does Paste work for different file, in different kind of directory (in a source root, out of a source root), in different project?
3. Any exceptions in idea.log?

Thank you,
Alexander.

Hi Alexander,

thanks for responding.  Let us come from a different angle:  "how to cut /paste a file".  This has actually never worked for me / I was unable to discover how to do it.  In any case it does not work like other IDE's, where you simply do Command-X  on a file then Command-V on the Directory in which to paste it back.

What does work is to do Shift-F6 to "move" a file.

Cutting and pasting should work with Cut and Paste actions. If calling Paste from context menu does nothing, then our coming from different angle stops here. Maybe you have some exceptions?

Thanks,
Alexander.

I just tried again with a different type of file. Command-X cuts the file (becomes grqyed out ).  Then right click on another folder and Paste.  Does nothing.  No exceptions, no "events", nothing at all happens AFAICT.  And note: the original file is still grayed out. That is not the usual behavior after a "paste" operation . Typically after paste the original file just disappears and moves to the new directory. But in intellij explorer nothing happens: the original "cut" file remains grayed out in its original location.

Thank you. Will contact more people here, especially ones with Mac, maybe they can help.

Alexander.
