Quicklists in 8.0M1

Hi,
Anybody else using quicklists? I've got one really useful one defined for my common VCS actions and have been using it from the keyboard for a few years, but with 8.0M1 suddenly the numbered mnemonics have disappeared, so I can no longer do see the history of a file with two keystrokes, I have to manually track through my quicklist (or learn some new mnemonics). Anybody else missing this functionality?

I haven't played with 8.0M1 yet, but I do rely heavily on quicklists including
the numbered mnemonics, so hopefully this is just a bug. If these have intentionally
been removed in 8.0 I suspect I'm going to have a breakdown :)

It's been in the Diana builds for a while.

I don't think it's a bug. Reason I say that is: it is now doing an incremental search of the target names in the quick list - so it looks like they went to some amount of effort to take away that useful little piece of functionality.

I think incremental search in the quick list is quite silly. The operative word in "quick list" is "quick". Think about it, the only people that go to the effort of even creating a quick list are those (such as myself) who are allergic to using the mouse ;)

Really, incremental searching in the quick list is problematic because we don't have control over the names of the entries in the quick list - so inevitably some are going to have similar prefixes. In my case, most of the options have similar prefixes, because I use the quick list for fast access to Ant targets, and our naming standard for ant targets encourages use of common prefixes in target names. I now have to resort to using the cursor keys to get a target selected quickly - yay.

It would be nice if we could either:
- give an option to switch back to the numbered mnemonic (which wasn't that great, but it was just good enough AND quick enough)
- allow the user to set up custom mnemonic keys within the quick list (this would ROCK)

Seriously, who has so many entries in their quick list that they actually need to perform a search across it?

Agreed. I have a VCS quicklist myself. But unfortunately I can't always count on the mnemonic because some items in the quick list are not applicable in some contexts --- a directory in project view vs an open file vs a change list -- and therefore those quick list items do not show in the list. As a result, the values of the automatic mnemonic changes. The new incremental search in a nice touch, but not at the loss of the mnemonics. Let's hope this is still something being worked on and the mnemonics are coming back. Having the incremental search and custom mnemonics would be awesome! (In such a case the mnemonics would need a modifier such as alt.)

I wonder if it is not so much so a search can be done, but more as a type of custom mnemonic. You can type the first letter or two of the desired item to get to it and activate it. Doing such has has more meaning than the previous "random" mnemonic. Granted it does add at least one extra key stroke (hitting enter once the item is highlighted). The only trouble with that is I have both "Show History" and "Show History for Selection" in my list. So there's no way to isolate only one via an incremental search. But I could type "H, enter" for the first and "H, down, enter" for the second one.

Any feedback from JetBrains on this one? Since Idea 8 is now in the final lap?

I love the quicklist, and almost can't use 8M1 because it lacks the keyboard shortcuts...
I use the clearcase plugin and customized many commands through the quicklist and i would really like to see the shortcuts return.
