IntelliJ Idea 13 fails to compile Play 2.2.1 project on OS X Mavericks

I am trying to test my environment for Play development on OS x 10.9 and have run into an issue compiling a Play 2 project.
The project is a default Play 2.2.1 scala project created with 'play new myapp' and then 'play idea' in the myapp directory.
It compiles fine and runs like you would expect from a bash terminal but fails if I try to compile it from within Idea.
In a Windows 8.1 configuration everything works fine so the issue appears to be OS X specific.
I have tried both the Apple JDK 1.6.0_65-b14-462 and Oracle JDK 1.7.0_45 with the same results.

The error that I am getting is as follows:

Information:Compilation completed with 1 error and 2 warnings in 2 sec
Information:1 error

Warning:Output path /Users/raybaer/IdeaProjects/myplay/project/target/idea-classes intersects with a source root. Only files that were created by build will be cleaned.

    Error:Error:line (8)not found: type controllers

                    ^

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to make this work.

Ok, I figured out that I didn't have the Play 2.0 Support plugin installed in my Mac environment.
After installing that, everything is working fine.
