Problem with IntelliJ IDEA 13 build 132.106 EAP (Mac OS X 10.8.4)

I recently acquired an IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate license. Until know, I use PyCharm, but I wanted IntelliJ as I also write programs in Clojure.

I installed the latest IntelliJ IDEA 12 release, and it works fine. However, I want to work with the EAP, particularly because I want the new local terminal feature - I use it in the PyCharm EAP and for me it is a real boon.

When I try to run IntelliJ IDEA 13 build 132.106 (and, BTW, the previous EAP), I get runtime exceptions, like this:

PyCharm and IntelliJ IDEA 12 continue to work.

I've tried, several times, commpletely removing all traces of the EAP, and reinstalling, but the problem persists.

I am running OS X 10.8.4.

I am sure the problem is some corruption on my system, as my experience with JetBrains software is that it is generally very stable. Does anyone have any idea how I can debug/fix this?
