Every day when I first start IDEA and load up my project, after selecting Version Control > Update Project, it takes quite a long time for the update options dialog to appear. During this time, my hard drive is churning like crazy and Process Explorer is showing a large amount of write disk IO for the IDEA process and hardly any CPU usage. Today, it took 4 minutes, the longest it has ever taken.
Unfortunately, I keep forgetting to prepare to take a CPU/memory/thread dump when this happens, so all I have is anecdotal evidence. And it never happens a second time during the day, so it must be some sort of caching or preloading. If I close and restart IDEA, the problem does not re-occur, except of course until the next morning.
This started happening in the last month or so of EAP releases. I'm using #7274 currently.
