high CPU consumption while editing source files?

Hi folks,

running through a horrible experience as a software developer.

I'm using IntelliJ IDEA 12.1.3 on Mac OS 10.8.4 with 8GB memory installed, and an 512GB SSD Hard-Drive. Java VM is 1.7.0.

So, besides the slow start and slow indexing and slow everything, which I already know from Eclipse, i ran into another annoying issue.

Everytime, when i start typing in a file. Doesn't matter if it is a .java-File, a .js-File ( node.js ) or a .php -File the IDE gets unusable for a couple of seconds, because both cores of my notebook reach 100% consumption.

What the heck is' wrong?

I just attached my yourkit-output, including a thread-deadlock i cannot resolve etc...

Sorry for my annoyed message, but i really could use some help down here :)

Peace,

Lars

Hi Lars,

Yes, right way to go is to provide a cpu snapshot for analysis.

The problem is that the one you've provided doesn't contain useful information:

Hi Denis,

thanks for answering.

Hope i attached a cpu profile this time, i thought i did already.:)
Sorry, i was using the yourkit the first time, nice application though!

Well, i couldnt provide another one, IDEA is not starting anymore.

Haha, i even clean-installed the IDEA 30mins ago.

Here is my shutdown-snapshot.

Update: Snapshot of project loading

Update -2 : Typing in empty .php file

Hi Lars,

Please try to disable IDEtalk plugin and check if that helps

Worked...

How did you know? What do you recommend for the future?
I want to buy a key and be a paying customer, but that issue was kind of annoying :/

I think it's a great IDE :)

I just checked the snapshots you provided and noticed that there is high cpu consumption at reading network data at one of IDEtalk classes. Looks like it's related to some of your environment specifics, not sure about exact details though, sorry.

There is no universal way to solve such kind of problems, recommended approach is to contact our support team or submit a ticket to the tracker.

Yeah, did that.
It's just unusable.
