IDEA Says "Compilation Completed Successfully" but it doesn't compile

Every now and then (about 3 time a week), whenever I try to compile my project, IDEA says it compiled it, but, in fact, nothing happened.

there's no compilation progress bar, and while debugging, the modified code isn't accessed. (new variables can't be evaluated etc.)
the only thing possible at this situation is to close and reopen the IDEA, and then it fixes it.

I'm using IntelliJ 10.5.2, JDK 1.6.0, on Linux CentOs.

Thanks alot !
Nati.

I'm not seeing this same thing with intellij11 on a mac.  So frustrating!  No output, no errors.  Even if I right-click on a (intentionally broken) java file and tell it to compile just that file, I get nothing but a success message.

Hi Tom,

Please try to execute main menu | file | invalidate caches and check if that helps

Are there any exceptions at the idea.log (main menu | help | show log)?

Could you try to do the same under the latest IJ (12.1.2) and check if the problem persists?

sorry,
currently i can't migrate my project ti IJ 12.

the only exception I can see is:

Help | Reveal log doesn't do any thing, and on /root/.IntelliJIdea10/system/log/idea.log I don't see any exceptions.

Hi Nati,
Please try first Build | Rebuild Project.
This will recompile the whole project and rebuild compiler caches from scratch. then after some modifications in files please use ctrl-F9 ('Make') or force compilation of a single file with ctrl-shift-F9 ("Compile").
The key point here is "Rebuild" action that invalidates all cached build information.
Does it work for you?

Best regards,
  Eugene.
