Missing zoom control on Android designer

I have lost the zoom controls on the Android UI designer. I have the choosers for size / orientation / android version / theme, etc. but no zoom buttons.

Have checked documentation, looking for the buttons shown on this page: http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/webhelp/android-layout-preview-tool-window.html

Any suggestions on how I can get them back?
