Well, it looks somewhat better on Windows, but personally I don't like
the monospaced font.

Is this just a Mac thing or are they so ugly on all platforms? :)

I don't see what's ugly. I like them.

Well it could be a Mac user thing that we are used to aesthetically pleasing user interfaces of course. But really, just look how lame the font looks. It is some odd non-aliased scaled proportional font which is way too big for those buttons.

It reminds of the X11 interfaces that I used to work with in the late 80s. Brrr.

Funny you should mention the font. I get tears in my eyes just from looking at your editor font:-) And the breadcrumbs are ugly too, I agree.

Do you know a nicer font on OS X? :)

I have to side with Bas here: non-aliased fonts forever! (or at least until
200 DPI screens show up).
There's a reason that most quality TrueType fonts have a hint embedded that
says "do not anti-alias below xx point size".

But judging from your screenshot, I agree that the breadcrumbs do look extra
ugly on Mac :)
Alexey, if you're reading this, what about switching the breadcrumbs to proportional
Verdana or something similar just for the next EAP build, as a one-time experiment?

Personally in IDEA I use Lucida Sans Typewriter, without anti-aliasing at point size 10. This still does not look good, but at least I do not get a head ache when looking at it all day:-)

I assume you are using Courier, which is an OK font when not used in a Java application. Java anti-aliasing, on Mac OS X especially, is really bad in my opinion. The fonts get all blurry and hard to look at. I hope JDK 6 brings some improvements in that regard on Mac OS X.

Actually, it was 'Monospaced'. Usually I change it to Monaco 10, which does look a lot better, even with antialiasing on. Just forgot to do that after the M1 install :)

I raised the font concern in the early breadcrumbs days, but apparently they decided to stick with those ugly monospaced fonts :(

This is your change to vote:

Not that I know whether voting actually helps :)
