workaround: find a build/version/installation that works, export the settings, import them, and don't touch them again.

Just posting a JIRA reference: your issue looks similar to http://www.jetbrains.net/jira/browse/IDEA-11556.
I will try to reproduce it and pass to development for fixing.

I am using 6.0.4 on MacOSX. I am trying to change the color of
parameters but everytime I hit Apply it resets back to defaults. It
happens on some others but not all.

Anyone had the same problem? Any solutions?

Yes, exat the issue happens to me.

I'm trying SELENA build 6763, and the whole settings is not persisted even I import a setting jart exported from my IDEA 5.

IDEA 5 doesn't suffer from this issue.

I had both the groovy and ruby plugins installed. On un-installation of these, it started working correctly.
