Anybody experience using intelliJ on a subnotebook ?

Hi list,

i am just curious if anybody here has experience using intellij on a
subnotebook with an 14'' screen.

Is it possible or just painful?

Hello Tilman,

Depends on the configuration and the screen resolution. IntelliJ IDEA runs
just fine on my Vaio Z with 13.3" full HD screen, 8G RAM and a fast SSD.
If you have a 1366x768 screen or a regular HDD, it will be fairly painful.

I've run it on my Asus Eee Slate 121 Tablet PC which has a 12.1" Screen, 128 GB SSD, 4GB of RAM, Intel Dual-Core i5. I've used it using the touchscreen just for referencing some code in a meeting. That works fine. And I've used it to do some coding on the road with a Bluetooth keyboard. I hide the main tool bar & the tool buttons and close all the tool windows in order to maximize the real estate for the editor. It works. It is a bit painful. OK for an occasional coding session on the road or in a meeting. I could "survive" using it for a week or two while on a business trip. But I would not want to code that way on a daily basis. Then again, I'm use to dual 21" widescreen monitors. And 12.1" is a bit smaller than 14.
