Structure view vertical next to opened project

Is it possible to view the structure vertical to the opened project view? Like dragging the outline view in Eclipse next to to workspace outline view?

| | |_| <-- where the 2 left lines are the project view and the structure view and the |_| is the code view...

Hi there,

You cannot put 2 of tool windows next to each other that way. However, you can move it to another side (code editor will be in the middle), e.g. |structure|_code_editor_|project|

Should be changed in future versions imo

Feel free to submit Feature Request as Issue Tracker (but please search if it does not exist alerady) -- http://youtrack.jetbrains.net/dashboard/IDEA

P.S.
I persoanlly see no big need in this (at least in my workflow) -- but another person may have different opinion on this  :)

Its annoying moving eyes back and forth over the entire screen for no good reason. Plus when both project and structure view are on the left side, most of the code is on the left side as well. Everything is basically going from left to right with.

Will do.

You can float the Project toolwindow, have the Structure toolwindow docked to the  left side, and arrange the windows in such a way that Project would be next to Structure.

It appears that the floating window blocks the code editor.

How exactly it blocks?

The idea is: you have to resize main window (so it is not maximized) and move such floating tool window outside main window (so they do not cover each other) -- something like this:

Ahh perfect. I was floating the window inside the editor.
