Integrate Project: What's its status and how does it work?

So, a while ago we were told that Integrate Project "allows you to integrate your changes
from one branch of the project to another branch". Sounds great, but unfortunately I
cannot figure out how this works. How does IDEA determine what branches the project
contains? Per module? If yes, it doesn't seem to work with CVS though, because it keeps
telling me that everything is up-to-date, even though I've got two modules from different
branches in my project that definitely could use some merging... What's up with that?

I see now that the item has been silently dropped from the 6.0 feature list. A
simple response telling that would have been nice though...

In fact, we're still not sure about this. I'm planning to look at the feature
and see what would it take to bring it in good shape, and then we'll decide
whether we'll fix it or drop it. However, all of this will be done after
the beta release.

Ah, OK - at least for now that's better than the feature being dropped for sure
because it sounds like it could be extremely useful.

And I didn't want to nag about that it doesn't (seem to) work, I just wanted to
know if and how it's /supposed/ to work, because after all, isn't the purpose of
the EAP to try out such new features? However, a feature that just tells me that
all is good can hardly be tested...

In larger team development, this would be a huge bonus.

Clearcase has this functionailty built in, but if you could make it accessible for cvs and svn repos that would be great.

Yeah another vote for this from me. We often have to switch to make fixed to a production branch/tag, or to easily merge in things from one branch into another. the current mechanism is too VCS centric rather than project/code centric.
