Anyone else frustrated by how you configure VCS ignored files?

The UI and functionality around how you configure files/directories to be ignored by VCS has been bugging me for a long time in IDEA.  You can't use Ant style paths, you have to exclude things on a directory by directory basis.  If you have a big project with modules that share identical layouts, this is a huge pain.  Also, IDEA doesn't even sort the entries you've already added in a meaningful way.  Can anybody look at the screenshot attached to this bug and say this is good usability?  http://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-63253  Does this not bug anyone else?
