Osx Intellij 11 unusable

I just downloaded and installed the latest version of Intellij 11 as of this date.

It was smart enough to recognize my last open project, so it went ahead and opened, and indexed it for me.

Then

1.)  I open the Preferences window to check some settings
Result : The window never opened and the application stopped responding ( Force Quit)
2.) Reopened the application

3.) I was able to open the Preferences window, and tried installed a plugin ( JRebel to be exact)
Result : The application froze and stopped responding (Force Quit)

4.) Reopened the application
5.) Tried to run a class file
Result : The application froze and stopped responding (Force Quit)

6.) Reopened application
7.) Tried opening "Module Settings" the application froze and stoped responding (Force Quit)

As you can see, this is just plain unusable.

It is a shame that I pre-paid the license before getting the 30-day trial.

I reverted to 10.5 until someone can help with the above.

Best,
Fotis

Did you try with a clean install (no import of previous settings/plugins)?
Did you clean your IDEA-system directory (don't know its path on OS X)?

I'm using version 11 right now on OS/X Lion. It's all running quite smoothly.

If you haven't tried it already, do File -> Invalidate Caches, shut down IntelliJ and restart it.

If that doesn't work, check the logs for any errors. You might also have a bad plugin that isn't working well with version 11. Try disabling any third-party plugins and see if that helps.

Hello Charles,

This sounds like a solid solution, I will try this and come back to me.
