Performance Problems after updating to Java 1.6.0_29 on Mac

I've been experiencing extreme lag when using IntelliJ after updating to the latest version of the JDK 1.6.0_29 on Mac.  Prior to updating this was the stablest version of IntelliJ I'd used to date.  Not that prior versions were unstable, but I noticed I'd use the IDE for weeks on end without shutting down.  It was awesomely rock solid.  Bravo JetBrains.  However, Apple's latest version has thrown that off.  Here is some other people posting about problems they have seen as well:

I wanted to know if JetBrains was aware of this problem, and if there was a workaround they had.  I'd like to roll my version back, but under the Java Preferences all of my previous versions are gone.  It's like Apple erased those versions and left this crappy one on my system.

I'm on Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

Thanks
Charlie
