Eclipse has "Close unrelated projects" Idea have similar? Follow
I could really use a functionality like this. Our build is IMHO bloated and full of unnecesaries or subcomponents worthy of having thier own separate project and build tree. For now I have to deal with this as is since moving things around would be a major undertaking. Is there a way by which I can automatically open a module and all it's submodules or a way to close unrelated projects in the same build tree? I've got slow hardware and a build that is 6000+ files in size. Memory settings are as good as they are going to get. Advice? Is there a plugin that does this, maybe?

Hello Jim,
Try the "Offline module" plugin.

IMHO this feature of Eclipse only is needed in Eclipse, but not in IDEA. In
IDEA one can open different projects with different modules. In Eclipse one
has to put all those modules as Eclipse-projects into the workspace.
Switching workspaces like IDEA-projects usually is not done, because
workspaces contain nearly all settings, e.g., shortcuts. In IDEA a project
usually only contains modules which are required, in Eclipse the workspace
usually is the kitchen sink for all stuff you work on and ever worked on.
BTW, in IDEA I have two projects A and B which both can contain different
modules named module1, module2. In Eclipse this is not possible.

Well, I did it by hand, i.e. I looked up all the dpenedencies and opened the projects one by one so that I wouldn't have to open them all. Frankly it didn't help much. IMHO, Eclipse only works with thier hardware, which is so obsolete it hasn't been on the market for two years, because of it's static nature. Idea is far superior but I think I'm stuck with Eclipse despite everything.
It may be time for a change in venue, if you get my drift. I mean really.
