What's wrong with the dataSources.ids ?

Hi,

I've been having problem with the .idea/dataSources.ids for a long time now.
No big deal, but it's very annoying to see this file
dissapearing/reappearing, and messing up with SVN.

I'm sorry I can't describe any reproducible consistent behavior, but
this is exactly the problem here, it's very erratic.
I can't make head or tail of what's going on really.

All I know is that it's changing a little bit too often, adding useless
empty XML attributes for instance, which make it frequently for a
change in SVN.
My guess would be that there's probably a suppression/recreation
sometimes, instead of just a update, which could potentially mess up
with the way SVN works.

All I want is share some project dataSources among all the team
members. Even better would be to be able to share Global dataSources
among team members.

Thanks for investigating.

Hi.

I've found the following issue, fixed in current trunk: http://youtrack.jetbrains.net/issue/IDEA-71834
Maybe, it's about the same?

Regards,
Alexander.

cheers Alexander, good catch, seems like it could solve my pb.
I'll test the fixed version.

Might not be the good thread to address this problem, but there's still
this unability to share globally a datasource.

Some datasource needs to be shared for several project AND among the
whole team.
Same for the Code formating profile.
Same for the inspection profile.

For years I've had to apply a profile change locally, then copy it to
the shared project profile, then use this profile in all other projects.

I don't understand why this hasn't become a requirement yet. Especially
for code formating. When you agree on norms you apply them globally to
all projects.

Is there a place where I can fill this requirement?

IntelliJ Configuration Server plugin (not bundled) is made for sharing settings. Maybe it can help. I personally have not tried it yet.

Interesting, will have a look at it.
Though, from its description, it's not meant to solve the global
configuration sharing problem.

Shareable configuration is project based, where it should be entreprise wide.

If this plugin is Intelij's answer to the problem, fair enough, but up
to now all sharing activations are made right from IDEA's config.
