Clipboard named buffers?

Is there an option/plugin to copy/cut to different named buffers? I know I can get a history of previous items in the clipboard, but what I'd like is a fast way to copy and item to a named buffer that I can quickly recall. (Similar to jedit copying to register, or whatever it was in vim).
