Debugger: setting to close files?

Hi,

I just switched over from Eclipse, and I notice that the debugger in IntelliJ doesn't seem to close files after you step through them in debug.  Is there a setting that controls whether stepped-through files stay open?  They really start piling up after a while.

Thanks
~PT

I second that. Would be very useful.
And when we are at that: there should be an option to keep stepping through code in a certain directory or classhierarchy(or an option to include/exclude some files/libraries from stepping through).
Especially in frameworks (I'm developing Joomla extensions) you have a bunch of those "JFactory::opensomefile('classname')" things that let you step through miles of code or set breakpoints on every function you are interested in.

looking forward to such a feature ;)

Thank you MJ,

I apologize for not being too detailed:
If you work in a framework it is sometimes necessary to step through the framework-code (and in joomla for the extension to work, it has to be in a special subdirectory) so I set up my project including the whole Joomla sourcecode (as is standard for Joomla extension developers).
Now I have tens of classes in *many* files that I normaly dont want to step into, but every tenth or twentieth debugging session I need to see whats going on there ;)
For this, the Debugger/stepping dialog doesn't seem to help...

Hi all,

a coworker also regret that this feature is not in IntelliJ

I was not aware of this in eclipse, but as I found this usefull, i opened a feature request

https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-223578

maybe if enough people vote for it, it may be implemented in future.

Best regards,

Alain
