OSX Command-Fx keys stop working

I've experienced problems with Command (Applekey) - Fn keys. They stop working after a couple of seconds. It's not reproducable when exactly, but it always occurrs. All function-keys suffer from this.

It happens on JRE 1.4.2 as well als 1.5. Im using Tiger 10.4.2, I'm not sure when it started but I'm pretty sure it worked with Tiger. I tried it with Idea 4.5, same thing. I tried everything from disabling all OSX shortcut keys to removing all running processes except the ones absolutely necessary.

I'm not sure this is a Idea issue, but I found nothing on the web, so I'm posting this here. Shortcut work with other applications, i've only experiences this with Idea. No errors in the Idea log.

Thanks and any help highly appreciated

No ideas? It really makes it a pain to use IDEA if i.e. Command-F9 or Command-F4 do not work anymore.

Is there a way to turn debugging on with Irda? Maybe this gives a hint.

It might be (and in similar reports it always appears so) those shortcuts
are grabbed by some other applications or operating system globally. For
instance, Command+F9 is most probably grabbed by Expose.

Applications can also register a global key for a service. Go to any app, then click its title in the menu bar then look through the services submenu. Any shortcut listed there can't be used by IDEA.

You can actually remove the keybinding from the services menu by editing the offending app's Info.plist file.

Thank you very much. You just made my day. It was Quicksliver that registered the Command key in it's Info.plist (only command, nothing else). That's crazy of OSX allowing arbitrary Highlander-Keys. But thank you so much pointing me there. I feel like an idiot now asking you this stuff here... Anyways, thank's very much, it works fine now.
