How do I add and index Maven Repositories?

I tried to add and index repositories to settings => maven => repository

For example, I added the default maven repository. If I click on test, then it says "no repositories found".
Indexed Maven Repositories is always empty.

How do I add and index repositories? I did not find a documentation or wiki about IntelliJ IDEA using Maven :-(
