Need some help using php

I've just started using IDEA and am attempting to create a php project.  After installation, it appears that the php plugin is already installed.  However, when I attempt to create a project from scratch, I don't see a php module as an option.  How do I create a php project, and how do I add php files?

Thank you.

similar problem here - I downloaded the trial of intellij 9, wanted to checkout the javascript debugging support..

is pretty easy to setup a Grails project ...but can't figure out how to open a folder containing a simple html site !!

..feeling really stupid and frustrated at this point !! ... i tried the help and the docs .. but getting nowhere!
i even tried stackoverflow.. but not much help either .. though its comforting at least to see that other people are having similar problems ! - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1147336/how-to-get-intellij-idea-to-display-directories

Hello Nikhil,

At the moment there is no dedicated module type for PHP. You can create a
regular Java module, omit configuring the Java SDK, and create files in a
project in the usual way.

Alternatively, you can use PhpStorm which has a friendlier UI for non-Java
developers.

I've just started using IDEA and am attempting to create a php
project.  After installation, it appears that the php plugin is
already installed.  However, when I attempt to create a project from
scratch, I don't see a php module as an option.  How do I create a php
project, and how do I add php files?

It's unfortunate that IDEA is marketed as fully supporting PHP and Ruby.  True, they have plugins that can add support for those languages.  However, the way that support is implemented is very frustrating to use.  I develop different projects using Java, PHP, and Ruby.  If I start a PHP project, I want to have "Create PHP project from scratch" or "Create PHP project from existing sources" options.  I want the same thing for Ruby.

When I only developed Java, I used IDEA and "developed with pleasure".  Now that I have PHP and Ruby needs, I no longer develop with pleasure with regards to my IDE.

Oh, and the url that the PHP plugin in IDEA 10 points to doesn't exist....so not much help there.

I agree totally.. this was very confusing to me at first..

I also do lots of stuff in Java, Ruby, Perl and Python as well as PHP.. I thought this would be a good editor.. but the experince in setting up PHP projects is a pain at first.. I've "gotten used to it".. but I would think they would try to emulate phpStorm inside of Idea if that's how they are going to market it..

JetBrains: Are you even planning on making this a little easier?
