CSS/JavaScript linking

It appears that the way Irida links up CSS and JavaScript to HTML/JSP is very primitive. It especially becomes a problem when you use something like SiteMesh (http://www.opensymphony.com/sitemesh) to dynamically generate your headers and footers.

I think for CSS support to really work, Irida needs to be able to allow users (or plugin authors?) to provide "global mappings" for CSS and JavaScript files, or even URL mappings ("/secure/*" -> secure.css).

Also, I noticed that CSS support when the CSS is actually a JSP (often needed for customizable/skinnable webapps) is not supported. Bummer.

Any thoughts on this? It is really important to me. I'm happy to elaborate if you need more info.

This has been discussed before, but no consensus was reached. The general feeling is that we need to somehow instruct IDEA about "global" stylesheets/javascripts or map them to a path expression, so IDEA always consider these files, even if there's no explicit reference to them.

Unfortunately, there's no plan to include this in Irida.
