slow starting

quick look into sysinternals filemon log for IDEA #1185
startup shows that quite some seconds are spent while
bytewise (1byte) reading of resources.jar - just FYI

this reminds me of old annoyance: IDEA insists on reading
from slow network drives - which is the reason why some
people in a company I work for do hate to use IDEA.
Note that the slow network drives need NOT be in any way
part of an IDEA project to cause the slowdown.

Best regards,
M.

Hey, I noticed that too - I have some NFS mounts (NOT used in code or
libraries anywhere), but when one of these breaks (for example, I
forget to unmount, and take my laptop home), IDEA hangs on startup. Why
it should decide to scan a directory that's not part of the project in
any conceivable way is beyond me...
