Finding text in files

I try to find a certain text string in log-files, which I stored in directory. Unfortunately, each log file has a different file extension like

server.log.100
server.log.101
server.log.102

etc.

The find functionality seem to look only in files which are registered via their file type in IntelliJ. However, since there are more than 200 files and hence more that 200 file types, this would be very tedious.

Can't IntelliJ search in all files regardless whether they belong to a registered file type ?

Kind regards

Please, use find in Path.

Hi Maxim,

I do not know, what I'm doing wrong, but "Find in Path" appears to look only in files, whose file extension is listed within the "registered" extensions. Files which have a question mark icon in the project explorer seem to be ignored.

Is this a bug then ?

No, it's not a bug, it's by design so that IDEA doesn't parse files that
it doesn't know about. I would suggest renaming your log files to
server.102.log, etc. instead, or using some other tool to do the search.
