Setting up IDEA on Ubuntu from task launcher

I have setup IDEA 9.0 so it runs happily if I run it by typing idea.sh into a terminal. I would like to setup so I can run it from a menu, but adding a launcher or menu item which calls idea.sh does not work. What should I call to make it run?

Hi Mark,

Following setup works fine for me:

  1. Launcher command: '/bin/sh -c "/<path-to-your-idea>/idea.sh"':
  2. Environment variables JDK_HOME and JAVA_HOME are defined. You can create file ~/.pam_environment and define them there (gnome session should be restarted then). E.g. here is ~/.pam_environment content on my machine:

denis:~$ cat /home/denis/.pam_environment
JAVA_HOME=/home/denis/dev/jdk/jdk1.6.0_19
JDK_HOME=/home/denis/dev/jdk/jdk1.6.0_19
M2_HOME=/home/denis/dev/maven/apache-maven-2.2.1
GROOVY_HOME=/home/denis/dev/groovy/groovy-1.7.2
CATALINA_HOME=/home/denis/dev/tomcat/apache-tomcat-6.0.26
