How to import source files into a project?

This may show an Eclipse influence but I have been
looking in vain for a way to import a source tree
residing elsewhere on disk into an existing project.

Just copy the src directory (or its contents) to your project directory and
they will show up in idea.

If you have an intermixed directory structure... You can create a new module
for your project, and point that module's content root to the src dir you
want to add in your project. You'll be working with the same version, not a
copy of it.

To add module go File|New Module add java module.
