Intellij 9 confused after commit files to SVN about status of new files

I commited some files to SVN, Jetbrains complained of an error merging files, server timeout.

On investigation all the fies had been correctly comitted to SVN, but any files that were brand new were still shown within IntelliJ as not being under SVN control. Ive tried 'Update Directory' and 'Synchronize' with no sucess. I can try and commit the files, and it comes back with 'Files already exists' which is correct, but it then it doesnt update  the status of the file I was trying to commit to show it is in fact already under SVN control, how can I get round this
