Daily Issues that Intellij could help me with

hi.

Here are some things I have problems everyday that I think Intellij could help me with:

-I would like to be able to open files outside my project definition. I do this to avoid using an other app; and sometimes because I need to merge code from a locations outside the project. With all the indexing overhead it is not convenient to temporarily add a dir to the project/module.

-I would like to scan a whole project for unused classes. I often generate a lot of classes as i develop and have to spend much time getting rid of what I don't use.

You can open any file with "File > Open File", can't you? Maybe you can
be more specific about the functionality you need.

"Analyze > Inspect code..." let's you inspect your project for "Unused
declarations". The inspection reports unused classes, but also unused
methods and fields.

Check the FileAssociation plugin. It can do that for you, but I think it
can only open files in the current project (I'm not on win32, so I can't
say for sure).

I would definitely like this. An other thing that would be interesting is to be able to browse the whole file system in the Commander. which frankly the only times i have thought to use it, or needed it, was when I wanted to access files somewhere outside the project. Usually to compare or over-write something in the project.
