In case no one noticed, 1179 was also posted to the site as the official
4.0.2 release.

Forget that for now, Sfeir. Pallada EAP finally begun and you're already complaining :) Bad Sfeir, no donut.

By the way, it seems that 1.5 feature set is now complete (unless I'm missing something). This alone is worth hours of praising! Now I can dump that-other-ida-that-supports-the-new-features and get back to IDEA on my pilot project :)

Good luck guys,
Lets begin one more journey where we whine, moan be sarcastic and threaten to go on hunger strike and of course at the end of it all feel proud to be a part of it in some small way.

Good luc.

Cheers,
Parthi.

No, it is not complete yet. There are still some features to support. Don't
put us on bugfixing so soon=)

No hurry at all ^^ I'm just happy enough to be into EAP again. That was a short time without it -- abstinence syndrome was just starting to kick in.

Anyway, what's still missing? Wildcards?

0

Are you sure that the RMI stub/skel feature is still in demand? Starting with Java 1.5 both are generated on the fly automatically. Obviously this requires 1.5 on both ends, but IDEA users have managed without this feature for so long, myself included...

Why not take a crack at Subversion integration?

Best regards,
Lars Ugleberg

Yes, and enums are in progress, and a bit of varargs too.

Yes, Subversion integration would be much appreciated. Isn't it the top voted issue on tracker?

Isn't it the top voted issue on tracker?

Wasn't Maven-support the top-voted issue?

Tom

0

No. It was JSP 2.0 support ;)

0

And that kind of proves that the top-voted issues are not not necessarily the ones that should be done. They have already been burned once.

This was, what I wanted to express.

Tom

... because no-one is using it yet?

0

... and no one is using it yet because there's still no decent tool integration. It's like the chicken and the egg.

0

And oh, I don't think JetBrains should waste valuable resources now to do a subversion integration. However, I don think that it should be make it easy for plugin developers.

0

Grammar is failing me today. I do think that JetBrains should make it easy for us to develop a subversion plugin that is on par with the CVS one.

0

That's right. Subversion solves performance problems in CVS and offers some better features but these are not so important or desirable that I would sacrifice being able to manage file versions from within IDEA. So I'll not be looking at Subversion until it's fully integrated and I'm not in a hurry either. If and when it arrives I'll take a more thorough look at Subversion.

Wouldn't consider a plugin due to the hassle they impose when upgrading IDEA. So I'll stay happily with CVS. It was just an idea since I seriously doubt that the RMI thing is worth 'investing' in now that the need is about to disappear with Java 1.5. But there are of course lots of other much better ideas to consider.

Best regards,
Lars Ugleberg

Actually, it's
"like the egg and the chicken",
because the egg came first :)
