apple released 1.4.2 today.. http://www.apple.com/java/

how do the latest EAP releases work with it? :)

It's a bit disturbing that it seems to eliminate 1.4.1. I'd just as soon have both version available (as well as the 1.2, 1.3, and 1.3.1).

True enough.

I believe they are not going to provide any 1.4.1 bugfixes in the
future, even for critical bugs. All future effort for 1.4.x will be
going to 1.4.2, and so having the older jdk around when it might have
critical flaws seems to not match their OS/JDK plan.

If this bugs you, file bugs with Apple at bugreport.apple.com. They may
be ignored, but I have it on good authority that this is the best way to
express your desires to Apple engineering.
