Emacs 'set mark'

Is there anything I can do with Idea to get the same behaviour as the set-mark command with emacs. I want to be able to have the kind of flexibility when selecting text that emacs gives me, which lets me navigate normally while selecting all the text between my cursor and the orginal set-mark position. Using the arrow keys is just not as efficient.
