1113 not using idea.license?

It appears 1113 on MacOSX doesn't recognize the idea.license in my ~/.Intellij directory. How do you get it use that license vs. the temporary?

License store file and path have changed. It's now stored in IDEA config
directory in the file "idea40.key".

As the matter of fact the changed Valentin mentioned will only appear in
builds > 1116. Your 1113 will be satisfied with idea.license located in
~/Library/Caches/IntelliJ IDEA/

So does that mean we need to move our license, or we need to get a 4.0
license?

I moved my idea.license file and renamed it idea40.key. IDEA launches correctly but now states that my license expires on March 1st 2004 and that I will need to upgrade so I guess 4.0 will NOT be a free upgrade. I don't remember how 3.0 was handled maybe I got a free upgrade because I bought a 2.6 license fairly soon before 3.0 was released?

Best,
Chris

Exactly. If you bought your 2.x license in 2002 or later then you got a free upgrade to 3.x.

I remember a JetBrainer saying that the key format is changing for 4.0,
and if you have a maintenance agreement, hence upgrade agreement, I
think it's gonna be free... not sure about that last part.

I moved my idea.license file and renamed it idea40.key. IDEA launches

On starting #1113 I re-entered the license data, (so it created the new
file), and IDEA seems completely happy - i.e. no expiration notice.
However, I bought my IDEA license on 11 nov last year, so after the
'free upgrade to 4.0 if you buy 3.0 now' announcement. Possibly that
means I have a '4.0' capable activation key. Neat. I expected I would
have to request a new one.

I'm an idiot. I meant #1117. Ugh.
(Note to self: don't post before second cup of coffee).
