Feature Request : Console output window highlighting / filtering

If you can do this already, please point me in the right direction.

---

It would be great if you could highlight the console output according to different text filters.

For those of you that have use the stuff from www.sysinternals.com, you will know what Im on about (hopefully). We use this feature a lot, and have found it very useful.

So how about adding a button on the LHS of the console window to pop-up some form of text highlight/filter dialog for the console window - its very handy to be able to run an app with full logging turned on, and then have certain lines highlighted (for example highlight all log messages that contain some specified key/id)

You can do this for external tools output. See "Output Filters" button in
extenrnal tool configuration.

Thanks for the tip, Ill go check it out.

It would be real convenient if there was a button on the console output tab for filtering log / program output though.

What a great idea! I can think of two types of filters/conditions that would be helpful:

1) output only strings that match a specified regular expression.

2) start outputting all subsequent strings when a string that match a specified regular expression is first encountered.

This would eliminate the need for introducing (and configuring) loggers into the source, which are perhaps often avoided in smaller projects (tests, experiments etc.)

Great idea :)
