UI Designer praise

I just finally got around to using the UI Designer, and despite all the bad things I've heard about it, I like it. It's great for quickly and conveniently setting up a functional UI and also for experimenting with how you want something to look. I think the logic should go in the code, and the design should be done visually, and the UI Designer allows for just that to happen.

Having used the GUI designer since it first came out I can't say how much
I like it over others I've used. I've not done much GUI stuff but I love
the way it works, and I love the possibilities for seeing it grow ( with
intentions, inspections etc. )

I'm quite glad you brought this up, I was about to ask how people find it.
Haven't worked on any java UI stuff myself (at least not so far), so I'm
not sure what to expect, but I was curious to know if it turned out as good
as people hoped it would when this EAP cycle started.

Now we'll just have to wait and see how they reuse some of this GUI stuff
for web development (a product called Fabrique has been mentioned a few
times), I guess they had more than just java apps UI in mind when they came
up with this xml stored layout information. Or so I hope, it would be a
pitty to leave it here.
