**Java**?? broken on Mac :-(

Regarding http://jetbrains.net/devnet/docs/DOC-1155

As that document states it is not just menus, it is out-of-nowhere crashes.

I've been an IntelliJ user/fan/etc for 7 years but because of this I've had to switch to Eclipse just to get work done (primarily due to the 5-6 minute complete JDK/Grail/library reindex after every cold crash)

Eclipse is Java based too so I'm not sure what the difference might be...??

Everytime I got the crash and "sent a report to apple" I looked at the info it is sending and it appears to be Java2D related.

... a very sad former (hopefully temporary) IntelliJ user.

(trying out Eclipse Galileo... not too shabby once it is configured)

You know that Eclipse uses a different front end (SWT vs. Swing)?

no other responses...

now i am curious -- am i the only one with this severe of a problem?   if so, that could change things (maybe it is my system).

Well, it would help if you would tell what exactly is your system.

I only have the menu issue which is annoying enough, and, like you, I don't understand why there seems to be so few people having similar problems.
I mean, if all Mac users had problems we'd probably hear more about it ?

To answer your question, I use a mac-book pro 2,5 GHz, 4GB ram, external 23" dell external screen, all software updates installed.
Nothing really fancy...

MacBook Pro 2.4ghz 3gb memory, OS X 10.5.7, ... java 1.5.0_19 (update 4)

I'm going to attempt a rollback of the java update from time machine if possible this weekend.   Anyone else tried that?

Same problem here, it's really annoying. Is there a way to rollback Java Update 4?

Cheers,

No, Apple is suggesting to use a backup. :(
