Diana - static code analysis (Findbugs, PMD)

Hello:

My inspection profiles are turned up very aggressively and it seems that IntelliJ 8.1 (Diana) is catching a lot of issues related to static code analysis. Does this mean that the FindBugs and PMD plugins are essentially irrelevant - and thus need not be installed?

IMHO the answer is yes (you don't need that plugin), if you only care for the feature set.
IDEA's offers a more complete set of inspections than either of these tools (with the one
or other odd exception).

From my understanding the plugins are useful for mixed Teams (where some un-enlightened
developers are using Eclipse) and the team is committed to a specified set of FindBugs/BMD rules.

You could probably configure the inspection settings in IDEA to more or less resemble the
FindBugs settings, but that will be lots of manual work, and there will always be still some
slight differences in the exact scope of inspections.
