Why is IDEA beeping at me?

This one is driving me mad, is anyone else seeing it...

I'm using build 1019 on Linux, and it seems at first like 1 out of every 3 or so times that I dismiss a dialog box IDEA beeps at me.

For example, when doing a rename refactoring on a variable name inside a class I key the new name in, hit RETURN, IDEA beeps at me, closes the dialog box and performs the refactoring.

After a few goes, it seems to settle down for a while but every so often the damn beep will come back.

It's one of those things that breaks up your flow of concentration if you're an intolerant, bad tempered coder like me!

Yes. I think it's the windowmanager (FVWM2 in my case) that tries to eat
part of the keystrokes, and chokes.
It also happens to me when I press (for example) Ctrl-Alt-L quickly. A
fraction slower, and there's no problem.

Edwin

Yes, I do and yes, on linux. I believe it's the same problem that I related in detail here:

http://www.intellij.net/forums/thread.jsp?forum=22&thread=60985&tstart=75&trange=15

Dismissing a dialog appears to initiate the same "returning from another window" response from idea as alt-tabbing back from a different application does.

Yes, or at least something similar. Mandrake 9.1 + GNOME.
It looks from my perspective that the dialog window does have no receive focus properly. I wrote about it long time ago. I can't find this message any more.

In details when I try to refactor - rename then window for data input appear, but its with no focus on it, so if I try to type something without clicking on it it beeps on me. The problem is that it is not the 100% of the time. I was trying to establish some common source of it, but I was not able to find any pattern in this behavior. (Except one - its always annoying ;) )

The answer I received was that you have no problems like this on RedHat.
