Settings in the user directory

Hi.

Up until 998 I saved the settings in the IntelliJ directory and I decided to
give it a try to do the recommended thing and save them in the user
directory like the installation suggests with build 1002 and on.

I have a few questions regarding this:
1. When I install the next build, do I need to ask to import the settings
from 1002 or will it just preserve the settings since they are in the user
directory?
2. If I decide to go back to saving settings in the IntelliJ directory, will
asking to import settings from the older build work (i.e. the settings will
be taken from the user directory even though I will say to import them from
the IntelliJ directory?)
3. Any other issues I should be aware of?

Thanks,
Amnon

If you choose to keep the setting is the user directory for the new build
as well you won't have to import them, they will be there already. There
were some discussions about clarifying this thing some time ago.

That's how it works. I think it looks in the lax file to see where they
are stored and takes them from there.

None that I can think of right now. That part stabilized a while ago (last
problem I remember was with the file templates), so I guess it's quite
safe now.

Thanks!

I can't believe I asked this about 1002 and we're at 1019...

JetBrains probably invented a machine that slows time so that they can
achieve more :)
