Delete key not working on OS X

Hi,

sometimes my delete key stops working. Pressing that key will only sound
a beep but not delete stuff. Restarting IDEA fixes the problem. I didn't
find a way to reproduce that problem yet.

System: 1.4.1 -99 on OS X 10.3.1, external Bluetooth keyboard for my
Powerbook.

Is someone else with that problem out there?

I've expected such problem when I was using system menu instead of frame
one. That's an additional reason to not include this option as default.

Let me check if turning off screen menu bar solves this problem. I
haven't uses jEdit recently but it also uses screen menu bar and does
not have this problem.

Do you have a test case that shows this problem? 1.4.2 is not released
yet. Maybe it's possible to get that (IMHO serious) bug fixed if a lot
of people file a bug request for it.

Do you also sometimes see crashes after waking your Mac up?

This may be caused by our own processing of the EventQueue instead of
relying on Sun's implementation. May be caused by some events coming in
somewhat wrong sequence or somewhat. I'll try to investigate it deeper when
I'll have more time.

I see JVM crashes 3-4 times a day but this has nothing to waking up from my
observation. I've submitted those problems via native Submit to Apple button
but I'm not sure if those requests get handled. At least I haven't received
any notifications or requests for more info.

I don't think there's any chance that you'll get a reply. They wouldn't
know how to contact you (unless of course you provide an e-mail address
in the error description). But I have never seen any bug addressed that
I have submitted (they all sit there in Open/Verify state).

Do you read the Apple java-dev mailing list? There's some really capable
people with a lot of mac experience on that list.

Yes I do. But I'm not sure what info could I provide to help investigate
what's happening. It just crashes in some unpredictable moments.

I do suggest filing bug reports at bugreport.apple.com, if only so that
Apple has an official record of the bug in question. By all reports,
that is far and away the best way to get Apple's attention. (Aside from
paid tech support incidents.)

They do provide information on how to get and include a crash log. At
the least, if they have the information from you, they can get in
contact if need be.

If I were sure that it is a bug with Apple, I'd add another one to those
that are already in "Open/Verify" state. But Maxim already said that
they are using custom event handling. I don't see this problem with
jEdit, thus I guess it's somewhere in their code.

By the way: it seems to get worse. It sometimes jumps over to other menu
items, too. Turning off the screen menu bar helped. Hope that gets fixed
for v4 (screen menubar is an integral Mac feature).
