the future of the scala and python plugins? (now that Intellij 8 is out)

Hi,

Could you please tell what we can expect feature-wise regarding the scala and python plugins? And more importantly, when?

Personally I bought an intellij 8 license only because of these two features (the latest scala plugin is not working for me with I8 Final and I did not see the python EAP at all).

Thanks,
Peter

Hello peter,

The Scala plugin is in active development now; I don't think there's much
more to say about that. New plugin builds will continue to be released on
a regular basis.

The initial version of the Python plugin will likely be released next week
(we wanted to release it before the 8.0 final release but unfortunately things
take longer than planned sometimes).

Hi is there any plans to make a seperate Scala IDE as you are doing with Go?

Thanks

We don't have any plans to make a Scala IDE because a Scala IDE without Java support wouldn't make any sense, and a Scala IDE with Java support would not be any different from IntelliJ IDEA with the Scala plugin installed.
