"Error" fix intentions: how to use them more quickly and reliably

given the following

! MessagingSender sender = MessagingFactory.getSendr();

Then the getSendr will be highlighted in red due to the method not found. But when I drag mouse over it, the "error intentions" exclamation "!":
-- may or may not show up
-- if it does show up, the delay is apparently random
-- when I want to go click on it, to fix the problem, I have to move the mouse over the "MessagingSender" class, and then the intellisense highlights it, and the "Error Intention" exclamation goes away (I can't get to the error intention without going over other stuff that cause it to disappear).

So, I really want a faster, more reliable and more usable way to do error intentions.

Any ideas?

Press F2 to go to the error and Ctrl+Enter to drop down the intention?

Oops, I meant AltEnter not CtrlEnter.

Press F2 to go to the error and Ctrl+Enter to drop down the intention?

This is what I do: Use F2 to navigate to the next error, ShiftF2 for the previous error. Then use AltEnter to open the quick fix intentions popup. Select the entry I want with the cursor keys and Enter to invoke it.

In my opinion the targets are just too small (and indeed unreliable) for speedy mouse use.
