Editor Tabs in IntelliJ 7.0.2 Mac OS X

Hey all,

I am using IntelliJ 7.0.2 on Mac OS X and find that the editor tabs are only appearing on one line. I am not using the "Show tabs on one line" option. Consequently only 4 of my 10 open files are appearing on the tabs. When I switch to a file that is on another tab and is not one of the visible tabs on the tab line, I am not seeing the tabs update to the other 6 tabs nor does the current file get highlighted. The 4 tabs that were showing are still there even though I'm on another file.

How do I fix this?

Hello Shaun,

Recently there was a short discussion on the same subject:

Has this been looked at? I'm a JIRA novice so I'm not sure how/where to check in the issues tracker? This issue is not that OS X doesn't support multi-row tabs, the issue that that the tabs are not scrolling over when you click the arrow. I can reproduce the correct behavior using the Global Code Style control panel in IDEA 6.0.6 (6197) and the erroneous behavior in either 7.0.2 or Selena-7693 on my machine right.

If there is any extra info I can pass along, please let me know.

I have the exact same problem. Default install of 7.0.2. However, I haven't found a single forum post about it.

I'm attaching a screen shot.

In the image, you'll notice that although the current editor is shown, it's tab is not highlighted. That is because it is 4 tabs to the left which are all hidden.

Hitting the left arrow button on the tab bar to scroll tabs does nothing but change the editor window. The tabs do not scroll to show the new active file in the editor.

I'm experiencing the same behavior in 7.0.3 and the latest Selena EAP builds. What gives? The only way around it is to use the even more hideous non-OSX Look'N'Feels.

I agree with the other posters. The bug is not that there are not multiple rows of tabs, it's that the open file's tab is not always highlighted, or even visible. The expected UI behavior of a tab is that the current tab should be displayed as selected if its content is displayed. It should certainly not be invisible. This erratic tab behavior is a major pain point for me in IDEA (particularly when my Eclipse-using coworkers ask me what's up with the tabs, then talk smack about paying so much for a crappy IDE).

Is there already a Jira issue for this?

Still not a single word about this from JetBrains on either the thread or the Jira. Incredible.

7.5?!?!

Sorry, what happened to 7.5? I don't remember anyone from JetBrains ever
announcing any such release.
