ok i see the setting now. When I use it the screen that I float turns gray and I can't see anything. Doesn't really matter I don't really float screens.
I don't use them either, but I've been playing with it from this discussion. I've attached a screenshot of what it looks like on my machine. What does yours look like?
in my idea.lax file. I guess that might be it. If not, I'm at the end of my rope. I would suggest filing a tracker report if you've got the time. Even if you don't care about this features, someone else with your config may think it's indispensible.

Did you turn on transparency in IDE Settings | Appearance | Transparency section? I don't think it's turned on by default.

it kind of works for me now, but it leaves some pretty weird ghosts on my screen.

Ouch. What version of Windows do you have? I'm on Win2k ServicePack 4.

win2k sp4. It might be a video configuration issue or my sorry nvidia vanta :)
i've also enabled direct draw in my idea.lax file....maybe that's it...dunno

i added -Dsun.java2d.noddraw back and now it works fine
