tomcat home and tomcat base directory

IDEA uses server.xml and other config files from Tomcat base directory so this field may be used to easily switch from one server configuration to
another.

hi,

what's the use of the tomcat base directory? I have always set it to the same location but I believe there is a reason, any hints on this? Thanks.
