Separate thread for automated bug reports ?

Human-created bug reports are becoming less visible, and I suspect less
read, in the bug thread, due to the huge traffic of automated bug reports.

Wouldn't it be appropriate to create a separate thread for automated bug
reports?

Good idea. There should also be some possibility to filter out exceptions that are occured by a plugin.

I´m sure it can be very helpful for a plugin developer to take a look on "his" exceptions.

I was worried about the same thing.

Yes, I also thought about this. Either a seperate thread for the auto-bugs
or the error reporter should allow (enforce?) to enter a user-specified
subject line.

But in the end the JetBrains need to know themselves if they can properly
handle it.

I guess that wouldn't be too bad. Maybe a checkbox in the web interface
like "Include Automatic" next to "Ascending sort". Additionally, I
wouldn't mind if the Tracker was a little faster.

Just add a filter for automated error threads. All of them has an 'Exception' type.

We can't make this filter, because Exception is not an option in the Type dropdown in the New Filter page.

Also, making a Search URL doesn't work either

http://www.intellij.net/tracker/idea/searchSCR?ok=search&search=Search&Field0=typeId&Operation0=EQUALS&Value0=Exception

That returns 0 results. I think I've setup all of the query parameters correctly.

I miss the readable bug-forum.

Before the auto-reporter made this forum unreadable by 2-eyed humans ,
I'm sure most EAP members would at least read the title of most/all bug
reports, to avoid the avoid the shame of posting the nth duplicate of
bug xxx.

Today, I wonder who bothers to read it, except from JetBrainers. I don't.
As a negative consequence, I also post report less bugs, because I
suspect another EAP member will have been quicker than me.

When you'll introduce new stuff, (Module, Project, AspectJ, EJB, xxx) it
will be less fun.

Yep, I used to read through them now and then to have an idea about what bugs
are known to avoid posting duplicates. I also used to report duplicates if I've seen
a particular bug posted somewhere else before. That's a lot harder right now.
